Another day in the books. We have been pushing it pretty hard the past several days, but we are feeling pretty good. Today seemed like it would be a quick and easy day but as always, every day has it’s own challenges. We were about 20 miles in and saw the dark clouds to our left and thought, hmm, but since we hadn’t seen any rain in the forecast we didn‘t think too much about it. However, before too long it started to sprinkle and soon it picked up until it was a solid soft rain. It rained about half an hour and by then we were soaked to the core. Fortunately, it was a warm rain so it wasn’t too miserable. As the rain was starting to ease up, I felt as if my back tire was a bit spongy. We stopped and saw the tire was mostly flat. It was time to grab a bit to eat, so I just pumped it up and we kept going. Three or four miles later we found a Dunkin’ and Dana went in to order and I unloaded my bike and proceeded to change the tire. We had dodged bolts, pieces of wood, lug nuts, etc. but somehow I missed a tiny piece of wire that worked it’s way into the tube and created a slow leak. Changed tire, a bite to eat, coffee and we uneventfully finished the day.
