Long Haul - Day 14 (8/30/21) Old Saybrook to Stratford CT. 52.6 miles
The route today took us off the main road. We have been basically following US 1 most of the time and have traveled on it quit a bit. We spent quite a bit of time off the main road and meandered through some ocean side roads. We also were sent through a small and a bit rugged trail through incredibly beautiful coastal terrain. We just followed directions and the first thing we knew we were on single track gravel path through some very rugged ocean front beauty. After that we passed through an are of wealthy water front homes. i probably wouldn’t be able to afford the front door of some of the homes. It was very peaceful and enjoyable. As a whole the scenery was beautiful but at the same time it felt like the miles were a bit tougher to rack up today.
We checked into our lodging and as normal we cleaned up, rested, got our gadgets recharged, and looked for a place to eat. Several things caught our eye and we landed at a really fun pizza place. It was in a former garage and the decor was very well done, oh and the pizza was tasty as well.
Now it’s time to chill and prep for tomorrow. It looks like Wednesday and Thursday are going to be rainy so we will see what our schedule will look like as we approach those days.
