Another early start and we made some really good time. The terrain made riding about as easy as it could be. Most of the time we were either on a road with a decent shoulder or we were wandering through the countryside. It was a pleasant day weather wise, so different from yesterday. We were just coming out of the country and about to get on a fairly main road when a 40 something woman walked past us and asked where we’re going. She asked if we need water, snacks, or the bathroom. She said she just lived a half a mile down the road and if we need anything we could come to her house and she would get us what we need. We considered asking for a hot tub but…:). Such a sweet person, or maybe just felt sorry for us. Either way, it was a good soul looking out for her temporary neighbors. The world needs more like her. It brightened our day and reminds us that being kind is not that hard and makes a real difference.

When we arrived in Providence RI, there was a really cool bridge over the river so we stopped and grabbed several snacks and rested a bit. Shortly after, we got on the Washington Secondary Bike Trail and were on it for nearly 20 miles. There was a bit of debris on the trail, a result of the recent tropical storm, Henri. At one point there was a tree across the trail and we had to slide through a small gap to one side of the trail. It was otherwise a great trail and we enjoyed the break from the busy roads. We stopped about 10 miles out and made lunch out of peanut butter and bread, hit the spot. You will notice on the elevation that most of the day was fairly flat till the last 5 miles.

We are only several days from New York City so we will need to time our riding so we can get through the big Apple in one day.

Two significant milestones today. We entered our 4th state and passed 500 total miles. Yay! Dana has been dropping Josh Cooper Goshen Rocks rocks in each state so today was another rock drop Hopefully Josh get some responses, (#joshcooperarts #goshenrocks) if not we know it will bring a smile to someone’s face.

4 states, 11 to go. #treesforgoshen #eastcoastgreenway
