Long Haul - Day 11 Dennis to Middleborough 51.8 miles.
Updated: Aug 27, 2021
We are off Cape Cod and hopefully away from the crazy busy roads. We left bright and early because we knew it was suppose to get hot today. We were up at the crack of dawn, drank a really good cup of French press Mexican Chiapas coffee, ate a muffin and we were off. While riding cape cod was a good idea it also came with some challenges. There are just a lot of people on the cape with just several good ways to head west and get out of there. We had the choice of using several of the main roads and have lots of traffic or use a number of back roads that would take us out of the way and quite complicated. So we took the main roads and had some dicey traffic for a while. However the motorists must have enjoyed our presence so much that a number of them yelled blessings at us and honked their horns in encouragement. I was so blessed I flashed a big peace sign back at them. Yes both fingers were pointed upwards. I thought if they could bless me, I could bless them back. There was one women that yelled “have a great day” and another with the “effer” word. I accepted bit of them as a blessing. In spite of the “blessings” we made really good time and got in around 1:00. We did have about 4 miles along the Cape Cod Canel. It was beautiful and peaceful.
It was another scorcher and it hit 90 by the time we arrived. we made good time and felt pretty good today, except for the heat. The temp is supposed to break overnight and the next several days are suppose to be cooler. #treesforgoshen #eastcoastgreenway
